Stendra (avanafil) is a prescription tablet for erectile dysfunction (ED) that works as a PDE5 inhibitor, taken as needed about 15-30 minutes before sexual activity and can work as quickly as 15 minutes, lasting up to six hours, but requires sexual stimulation for effectiveness. Common side effects include headache, flushing, and nasal congestion, with serious risks like sudden blood pressure drops (especially with nitrates) or vision/hearing changes. It's available in 50mg, 100mg, and 200mg strengths and should be used cautiously with other medications like alpha-blockers.
Nitrates: Absolutely contraindicated (never use with nitrates) due to risk of severe, unsafe blood pressure drop, heart attack, or stroke.
Alpha-blockers: Use cautiously; start with the lowest dose (50mg) if you're already on an alpha-blocker.
Other PDE5s: Do not take with other PDE5 inhibitors like sildenafil (Viagra) or tadalafil (Cialis).
Medical Conditions: Consult your doctor if you have heart problems, vision/hearing issues, or other conditions.
