Bintreat 2% Cream is a topical antibiotic containing fusidic acid (2% w/w) used to treat bacterial skin infections. It is effective against conditions like impetigo, folliculitis, infected cuts, and eczema with secondary infection by stopping the growth of bacteria.
Active Ingredient: The primary active ingredient is fusidic acid at a concentration of 2% w/w.
Mechanism of Action: Fusidic acid works by inhibiting the synthesis of essential proteins that bacteria need to grow and multiply, which prevents the infection from spreading and allows the body's immune system to clear it.
Conditions Treated: It helps manage a range of bacterial skin infections, including:
Impetigo (a weeping, crusty, and swollen patch of skin)
Infected cuts, wounds, grazes, and abrasions
Infected dermatitis and eczema
Boils, abscesses, spots, and carbuncles
Application: The cream is typically applied as a thin layer to the clean and dry affected area, generally three to four times a day, or as advised by a doctor.
Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, or mouth.
Do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings unless instructed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
Do not use the cream for longer than the prescribed duration (usually 1-2 weeks), to avoid developing antibiotic resistance or skin sensitivity.
Potential Side Effects
Most side effects of Bintreat 2% Cream are temporary and usually do not require medical attention.
Burning sensation at the application site
Skin irritation, itching, or redness
Mild pain or stinging feeling
When to Stop
You should stop using the cream and seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as a severe rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, eyelids, or throat.
